I’ll be giving a lecture as a TEDU Professor during the TED India event in early November. It will be on my time as the “Ambassador from Silicon Valley” on the Embassy of the Future Commission. From the looks of the overall TED India schedule, the speakers will be terrific as always. I’ll send update from the Infosys Campus, where the event is being held, and pointers to the most inspiring talks.
Jack Dorsey dubbed it “#MexTech” — a whirlwind tour of Mexico City with a group of techies to discuss the power of technology in combatting the social challenges of drugs. The State Department took a crew of techies from Silicon Valley — including Dorsey and myself — to meet with Mexican leaders, see the sights of Mexico City, and participate in the American Youth Summit in just a few days.
Highlights of the trip:
Working with President Caldarone’s team, using technology to enhance community, seeing the wickedly cool El Faro Oriente, Iztapalapa, Mexico City. This arts and culture center is the hub of the community, training adults for jobs in the arts, from metal sculpture to web design.
The trip culminated with a conversation with Carlos Slim on using mobile technologies to support positive change.
